Research Internship - Master's Thesis

I had the opportunity to work on the experimental component of my thesis as part of a 210-hour internship. During this internship, I designed and programmed an online experimental psychology study using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. More specifically, I used the jsPsych framework, which provides the functionalities and plugins required to design and implement online experimental psychology studies.

The experimental protocol follows a 3 × 2 factorial design, crossing three system conditions (_No AI, Opaque AI, Transparent AI_) with two consequence conditions (_Gain: +1 / 0; Loss: +1 / −1_). Each participant is exposed to all three system conditions, for a total of 210 experimental trials, with 60 trials per condition, preceded by a 30-trial training phase. The stimuli consisted of X-ray images of luggage, which were processed and prepared using Photopea.

I also implemented a version control system using GitLab, which was used to manage the development of the project and deploy the experiment online through Pavlovia.

Finally, I contributed to the implementation and analysis of the pilot study, which collected data from 13 participants. The data were subsequently cleaned, processed, and analyzed using R and various statistical analysis packages.
